Comcast jacked up their cable rates again. I have the most limited basic cable you can get and internet. I just receive the basic network channels. My cable bill went from $55 to $70. What an incredible rip off. I wish I could go back to DirectTV. I had hundreds of channels, 7 HBO channels, and TiVo service for $50.
I looked up the new cable rates. If you get digital cable with 1 premium channel, it now costs an amazing $80 per month. Ridiculous. The only good thing that happened is that my internet speed increased to 6 mbps. I can't tell a difference though.
I have been using Vonage VoIP for my phone service. So I don't think I can cancel cable and use DSL. Where I lived before, I had Verizon DSL and you had to use Verizon phone service. I don't know though--maybe things have changed.
Maybe I can sign up again with the student deals they offer at the beginning of the academic year. I could get souped up cable with HBO for cheap. Then I could watch Deadwood and 6 Feet Under again.
I remember hearing about some legislators that were trying to push through some bills that would allow people to pick what channels they wanted from a list. ESPN and MTV are the expensive channels for the cable company. If you take those 2 out, you could knock $10 off your cable bill. Then you could just sign up for ESPN during football season. I don't think I would need MTV since there is no actual music shown anymore, just reality TV and dating games.
