Navy beat Army by a wide margin today on the football field. The interesting thing about this win is that it puts Navy ahead in the series for the first time since 1991. Now the series stands at 50-49-7. Not many rivalries can boast such a long history. Coach Paul Johnson has led quite a turnaround. This year Navy is going to their 3rd bowl game in as many years, against Colorado State. Unfortunately, Navy basketball lost to Penn this weekend. I would have liked to attend that game.
It was amazingly cold in our amazingly high nosebleed seats. I have found little advantage to buying football tickets far in advance from the Naval Academy Athletic Association. I always get terrible seats. It was pretty windy too--windy enough that the paradrops were cancelled.
Speaking of Colorado, Texas put a hurting on Colorado (70-3) today to win the big 12 conference. I'm not sure why they ran up the score so badly, it's almost poor sportsmanship. It's not as if the Harris poll matters at this point. Even if it did, they would be hard pressed to pass Southern California.
