IBM, Sony, and Toshiba are planning to release a new processor called a Cell chip. The chip can run multiple operating systems and uses less power than the super hot Intel chips. IBM is slated to start production this year in New York. The chip is expected to be used in the Playstaion 3 coming out next year. It would be good to see another real contender to the Windows-Intel behemoth. AMD seems to be delivering good products, but they can't seem to earn a net profit. Intel seem to have really hit the wall with their product line. They are planning to release dual core chips this year, yet it remains to be seen if it will provide any real benefit.
