The new design for the World Trade Center was released today. It looks decidedly more modern than the original building and pretty much like previously released artistic renditions. The first 200' of the base will be concrete reinforced with steel and titanium to withstand any sort of ground-based terrorist attack.

In other news, I can't believe Richard Scrushy (CEO of HealthSouth) was acquitted. He was the most guilty of all the recent CEOs who have been brought to trial for fraud and corporate misconduct. Hello, jury, $2.7 billion accounting error? I'm sure he thought that since he founded the company, he could do as he pleased--SEC regulations be damned.

It makes me sick to my stomach when these 'leaders' in business do not accept responsibility for their actions. A true leader does not try to push accountability down the chain--they should accept full responsibility for what they knew or should have known. A few patently unethical company heads in the news just makes the entire business community look bad to the average American. Add this to the general mistrust of the corporation and the whole idea of shareholder value and you've got an apathetic workforce and slowdown in overall productivity. That productivity increase is what ultimately drives the increase in the world's standard of living. So thanks a lot Scrushy and Lay.
