The Senate is moving toward approving an $81 billion emergency spending bill for the efforts in Iraq. This would push the total money spent on anti-terrorism and war to over $300 billion since 9/11. Wow. I don't see much benefit to sticking around there much longer. Let the Iraqis take over.
There was a Deloitte study released that says IT outsourcing doesn't seem to work as well as planned or save as much money as expected. 70% of companies said they had negative experiences with the outsourcing, but only 1/4 are bringing IT back in-house. I had a Strategy class this semester that focused quite a bit on outsourcing and leveraging regional competitive advantage. It was interesting, but there often is no "right" answer. Outsourcing is likely to become more of a hot-button issue as professional jobs become increasingly outsourced, especially in medicine.
