Get this, I'm in Philly 12 hours and my car gets towed. I'm parked on this main street under a sign that says 2 hour parking between 8 AM - 6 PM. It's after 6, so I figure I'm good and leave it there overnight. I go out the next morning around 7:30 AM and it's gone. Great. I look at the sign to make sure I was really good. There is a tiny little sign under the main sign that says don't park here between 7 AM - 9 AM. Well, why isn't that time frame incorporated in the big red sign? Welcome to Philly.

Otherwise, Wharton Welcome Weekend was great! I was on the lookout for Ryan Miller and Helen Chiang, who apparently were group leaders, but I never found them. Very busy weekend, every minute had something scheduled. I had to skate out of some lectures to do some house hunting. Who needs to know how to pay for an MBA anyway?

The veteran's club at Wharton is great. Vets seem to do very well at school and in during job placement. I will be the token Navy pilot at Wharton this year. There hasn't been a Navy pilot at Wharton for several years actually. I met an admitted Air Force pilot, but he said he may go to Michigan instead. Other clubs I may join are the Consulting Club and Technology Club. Shawn will probably join Wharton Partners and Wharton Kids club. Unfortunately after talking to some guys on the Wharton rugby team, I don't think I will have time to play. They practice several times a week and have games on Saturdays. I'm concerned about spreading myself too thin and missing out on family time. Also my wife said no.

Work is very slow lately. Maybe it's because Public Works hasn't turned on our A/C and it is 100 degrees in my building. Inane bureaucracy aside, I will miss the Navy. I will miss flying and being part of the Navy team. I like being a leader and making decisions that have a measurable impact on others. One funny thing is several initiatives I took two years ago are finally starting to come to fruition as I am getting out of the Navy. I hope after I am gone people say, "J.P. Holland got us that $7 million in equipment." Though I doubt many people will remember. In any case, I guess it will look good on the resume.
